Reviews for the HP Envy x360 2-in-1 16-ad0097nr

87.2% HP Envy x360 2-in-1 16 review: Ryzen 7 8840HS beats Core Ultra 7 155U | Notebookcheck
The latest 16-inch Envy gets the x360 treatment to be an effective midrange solution in between the Pavilion x360 15 and Spectre x360 16. It comes in both Intel and AMD variants to satisfy users on both sides of the pond.
I found a 2-in-1 laptop that balances work and play - and its display is gorgeous
Source: Zdnet.com English
The HP Envy x360 16 (2024) is priced well for an upper-mid-tier device with a gorgeous display and solid performance. Creators will love this laptop's flexible form factor and impressive battery life. This is a laptop for work as much as it is for entertainment, and if you're looking for a 2-in-1 laptop, you have to consider the Envy x360. Compared to its rivals, HP's model offers a more complete package. Take a look at Lenovo's Yoga 7i. It's also a great machine worth consideration, but the Yoga is heavier with a duller screen. Microsoft's 11th-Gen Surface Pro arguably has better hardware, but it is much smaller, sporting a 13-inch touchscreen. If you're looking for a smaller option, consider HP's 2024 Spectre x360, which has a 14-inch display. For something more adventurous, check out the Lenovo Yoga Book 9i, which has two displays.

The HP Envy x360 is one of the best 2-in-1s we’ve used all year
Source: USA Today English
The HP Envy x360 strikes a great balance between a polished design and an attractive price. It packs a high-performance processor into its relatively slim chassis, an uncommon choice in a sea of high efficiency processors like the Ryzen 7 U-series processors. Add in the Envy x360’s beautiful OLED display and you get a 2-in-1 laptop that’s a steal for under a thousand dollars. Unfortunately, you will have to accept the Envy x360’s lackluster battery life of just over 6 hours. Among 2-in-1s, the HP Pavilion Plus 16, Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5i, and Lenovo Yoga 9i Gen 8 have it beat, and if you’re open to considering traditional laptops the Acer Swift X 14 and LG Gram 17 have phenomenal battery life. While the Envy x360 isn’t the perfect laptop, it’s a well-built, reliable, fast machine with an incredible user experience. You can’t find a more powerful 2-in-1 at this price without making other compromises.

81% HP Envy x360 16 Review: Midrange Convertible With Premium OLED Display
Source: CNet English
Another missing item from the Envy is speedy USB connectivity. There's no Thunderbolt 4 because of the AMD processor (it's a licensing issue), but you also don't get USB4; either would give you fast 40Gbps transfer speeds. Instead, you get a pair of 10Gbps USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports. The Envy x360 16 does have two USB-A ports at least, so you don't need to carry around a USB adapter. When it's discounted to $1,000, which is with great frequency, the HP Envy x360 16 is a steal, providing a much better display than most laptops at that price. With its strong performance for general use and a long-lasting battery, this convertible is easy to recommend for home use or remote work. It's probably only two speakers away from earning an Editors' Choice award. With fuller audio output, the Envy x360 16 would be about the perfect $1,000 home entertainment convertible.

AMD Radeon 780M: Integrated graphics card in the Ryzen 7040 mobile series APUs based on the RDNA3 architecture with 12 CUs (= 768 shaders) and a clock speed of up to 3 GHz.

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

R7 8840HS: A high-end, Hawk Point family processor that was unveiled in Q4 2023. The 8840HS isn't actually a new chip; instead, it's similar to the Ryzen 7 7840U but with a 5 W higher minimum TDP as well as higher clock speeds on the Ryzen AI NPU. The 8840HS has 8 SMT-enabled cores (16 threads) running at 3.3 GHz to 5.1 GHz. Those Zen 4 architecture cores are mated to the Radeon 780M integrated graphics adapter.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.
