The HP Elite x360 1040 G11 is a portable and well-built 14-inch 2-in-1 device with punchy CPU options and a modern port selection with two full-function Thunderbolt 4 connectors. The machine that we bought has a Core Ultra 7 155H, 32GB LPDDR5x RAM, and a 1TB SSD. It feels super responsive for normal work. The 28W chip is also suitable for more heavy tasks such as 3D rendering. The processor sustains a 2.12 GHz / 1.82 GHz P and E core clocks in long stress which is a solid result for a light machine with transforming capabilities. In this scenario, the pair of fans doesn’t sound loud and the keyboard doesn’t get too toasty. The 1200p IPS display (BOE0C52) is pretty good. It’s a PWM-free unit with 94% sRGB coverage.

While Copilot+ PCs with Qualcomm Arm chips are gaining plenty of attention, there are compelling reasons to stick with the traditional approach. We await the killer app for AI on laptops, and Intel’s Core Ultra chips remain better all-rounders: the x86 architecture is still king on Windows and Intel’s Arc graphics are far more accomplished than anything Qualcomm can offer. Despite my words of praise for Lenovo’s ThinkPad T14s, there are good reasons for business buyers to remain cautious and stick with a traditional approach. Chief among them is compatibility, as the last thing a business wants to do is a mass roll-out of laptops that are incompatible with key software or the office printer.

Intel Arc 8-Core: Integrated graphics adapter based on the Xe LPG architecture (similar to the dedicated Arc GPUs, but with a focus on efficiency). Provides all 8 Xe cores (128 Xe vector engines) and 8 ray tracing units.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

There are hardly any tablets in this display size range anymore. For subnotebooks, on the other hand, it is the standard format.
The advantage of subnotebooks is that the entire laptop can be small and therefore easily portable. The smaller display also has the advantage of requiring less power, which further improves battery life and thus mobility. The disadvantage is that reading texts is more strenuous on the eyes. High resolutions are more likely to be found in standard laptops.
