Every laptop maker should follow HP's lead and make more support videos
Simple upgrades like adding more RAM or storage are straightforward in many cases. On some laptops, however, the process can range from simple to unnecessarily difficult depending on the model. Worse yet, most manufacturers don't offer any guides or tips as they'd rather upsell consumers more expensive configurations instead. This is why the latest support video from HP has us pleasantly surprised.
The official video below shows users exactly how to service the latest 2022 Envy 16 laptop from start to finish. It even dives deep into replacing the heat sink, thermal grease, display assembly, and more. The Envy 16 isn't difficult to service in the first place as the bottom panel pops off fairly easily, but the step-by-step guide is nonetheless helpful especially for novices.
Such videos can be particularly useful for models that are more difficult to open up. The LG Gram laptops, for example, have tight bottom panels that are difficult to remove even with the correct tools. Gram owners who want to add more storage would have an easier time following a video guide from LG than going in blind and risking damage.
