The HP Envy 16 business laptop is now official with 12th-generation Intel Alder Lake processors, Nvidia/Intel GPUs, 32 GB of DDR5 RAM, Wi-Fi 6E, and a 83 Wh battery. Worldwide sales start on May 9 starting at US$1,399.

HP has refreshed its Envy line of high-end business laptops with some new SKUs. The HP Envy 16 delivers the quintessential HP experience in a new 16-inch form factor. There are some interesting new GPU options, too, along with faster DDR5 RAM and an upgraded webcam. The laptop will be purchasable on HP's official website, Amazon and other retail outlets on May 19, with prices starting at US$1,399.

The HP Envy 16 is available in three screen configurations, one with a UHD+ (3,840 x 2,400) OLED panel (500 nits peak brightness, touch-enabled, 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage), the second with a WQXGA (2,560 x 1,600) LCD panel (120 Hz refresh rate, touch-enabled, 400 nits peak brightness, 100% sRGB colour gamut coverage). The third one is a non-touch version of the latter.

Given its stature as a high-end laptop, the HP Envy 16 packs the best hardware available from Intel. Processor options include the Core i9-12900H, Core i7-12700H and Core i5-12500H. One can pair with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 or an Intel Arc 370M dGPU, or skip it altogether and use the Intel Iris Xe iGPU. Memory and storage configurations max out at 32 GB of 4,800 MT/s RAM and a 2 TB PCI-e Gen 4 NVMe SSD (2 x 1TB in RAID 0 configuration also available).

The HP Envy 16 comes with two Thunderbolt 4.0 ports, two 10 Gbps USB Type-A ports, one SD card reader, one HDMI 2.1 port, an RJ-45 Ethernet jack and a 3.5mm combo jack. Wireless connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6E (Wi-Fi 6 only on some models) and Bluetooth 5.2. A six-cell 83 Wh battery powers the laptop, which HP claims can deliver up to 13 hours of video playback. The included charging brick can power said battery at up to 200 Watts.

Other HP Envy 16 features include a 5 MP webcam that supports Windows Hello and a dedicated button to disable the webcam/mic, along with a physical shutter for the camera. The laptop weights around 5 lbs (2.2 kg) and is around 0.75 in (20 mm) thin. It is offered in only one colour variant, namely Natural Silver.
