HMD Global to rebrand the Nokia 225 4G, will feature Unisoc T107 SoC, USB-C port and cost 69 euros ($75)
Following the launch of the HMD Crest and the Crest Max in India, HMD Global looks like it's now set to rebrand its Nokia 225 4G feature phone as the HMD 225 4G, as indicated by a recent tweet from tipster @smashx_60 on X/Twitter. The company also launched the HMD 110 last month in June, where the company first indicated a shift towards establishing its name brand alongside its existing Nokia lineup (the Nokia 110 4G is currently listed for $39.99 on Amazon).
The upcoming HMD 225 4G will retain the core specifications of its Nokia counterpart, including a 2.4-inch IPS LCD display with 400 nits of brightness, a 2MP camera with 1080p video recording, and a 1450mAh battery. The phone has a USB-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack as well. Powered by the Unisoc T107 chipset and running on the S30+ operating system, the device offers straightforward, basic functionalities.
Expected to be priced at 69 euros, the HMD 225 4G will target budget-conscious consumers seeking a reliable device, or it could be aimed towards those looking to use the 225 4G as a secondary device for calling.
According to industry data, feature phones still account for a significant portion of the global mobile market, particularly in emerging economies such as India. This demographic often places a higher priority on affordability, durability, and basic functionality, making feature phones a pretty viable market segment for manufacturers like HMD Global.
