Google developed a way for its new Material You UI to grab colors from a user's chosen wallpapers and intelligently build a system-wide palette based on them. Now, a new leak suggests that the Mountain View giant will introduce 4 new types of this "dynamic" theming with Android 13.

Google has started to leverage AI-capable processors and what they can do in its newer versions of Android already. One of the more subtle, yet still potentially impressive and effective, examples of this involves Material You, the OS' latest interface that can change the system's appearance in a number of ways all based on the wallpaper set by the user.

This ability, known as Dynamic Color or dynamic theming, can generate a 'spectrum' of shades extrapolated from the wallpaper in question and confer the resulting colors on various widgets, buttons and even pull-down menu elements as the AI engine basically sees fit.

This is intended to imbue the resulting UI with a sense of style the user does not even have to bother developing for themselves. Now, Android Police claims to have found evidence of 4 new 'modes' for this setting, allegedly intended for launch as part of the next major 13 upgrade.

These "combinations", found as just 1 of many new potential features in the latest round of Android 12 betas, include "Tonal Spot", closest to the current default dynamic theme found in the corresponding stable version.

However, there are also newer options: "Vibrant", which might result in the warmest palettes of the 4; "Expressive", which seems to be colder and includes more extreme variations than usual, and "Spritz", which apparently results in a monochrome effect. Currently, there is no word on when these new esthetic options might hit newer Android phones in the future.
