The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1-powered Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Plus lands on Geekbench 5: Android 12 out of the box, but 30 percent slower than Apple A15 devices
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Plus was recently spotted on Geekbench 5. The Geekbench listing confirmed a few rumors about the tablet and also gave us a look into performance figures for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. While the Galaxy Tab S8 Plus fared better than Snapdragon 888-powered devices, Qualcomm's latest chip is evidently no match for the Apple A15. In Geekbench 5's multithreaded test, the Galaxy Tab S8 Plus scored 3195, while the iPhone 13 Pro delivered a score of 4589, over 30 percent faster.
Apart from performance insights into the upcoming SoC, the Geekbench clarified that the Galaxy Tab S8 Plus will arrive with Android 12 installed out of the box, and a reasonable 8GB of RAM. Earlier rumors indicated that the Galaxy Tab S8 Plus could be a formidable media consumption device. It'll feature a 12.4-inch display that's only slightly smaller than the massive 14.6-inch screen on the upcoming Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra.
The Galaxy Tab S8 Plus should roll out sometime next year. While its SoC might not hold a candle to the Apple Silicon M1 iPad Pro, the OLED HDR display could prove a better alternative for Netflix.
