Oppo is set to reveal ColorOS 12 on September 16 with new devices also expected to debut at the launch. Also making an appearance is a new limited edition version of its Find X3 Pro made in collaboration with Kodak.
Oppo has taken to Weibo to announce that it will be unveiling ColorOS 12 on September 16. ColorOS, as many will know, is the combined codebase of (presumably) the best bits of Oppo’s ColorOS and Oxygen OS from OnePlus. Once a stablemate of Oppo, OnePlus is now effectively a sub-brand of Oppo so fans of both companies will be keen to see what the collaboration will deliver.
ColorOS 12 is built atop Android 12 with a beta expected to be launched for the Find X3 series on September 16 as well. New features expected in the new operating system include free-floating windows, quick view cards, improved privacy features and, naturally, a visual overhaul. Also expected at the launch event will be new hardware that could include the unveiling of the Reno7 series, a watch and a rumored tablet.
In related news, Oppo has developed a new partnership with Kodak in the tradition of smartphone companies looking to partner with iconic camera brands. The first product of the relationship, a limited edition Kodak version of its Find X3 Pro, has surfaced. It features a silver and leather-like look reminiscent of the iconic Kodak 35 camera. Whether it has any special tricks up its sleeve isn’t yet known. An appearance for the device at the September 16 event seems likely so it shouldn't be too long before we know more about it.

I have been writing about consumer technology over the past ten years, previously with the former MacNN and Electronista, and now Notebookcheck since 2017. My first computer was an Apple ][c and this sparked a passion for Apple, but also technology in general. In the past decade, I’ve become increasingly platform agnostic and love to get my hands on and explore as much technology as I can get my hand on. Whether it is Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, Linux, Nintendo, Xbox, or PlayStation, each has plenty to offer and has given me great joy exploring them all. I was drawn to writing about tech because I love learning about the latest devices and also sharing whatever insights my experience can bring to the site and its readership.
