Google expanding Gemini Intelligence AI features across Android

During The Android Show: I/O Edition 2026, Google announced the upcoming expansion of Gemini Intelligence AI features in Android OS, helping automate daily digital tasks.
The AI will have the ability to access all personal information stored on a smartphone, including passports, then use it across Google products, such as Gmail, Photos, and Wallet by automatically filling in forms.

When entering text manually throughout Android, the Gboard keyboard will have the ability to transcribe multilingual spoken words using the new Rambler feature, eliminating annoying filler words like "um", dropping unnecessary sentence fragments, and even rewriting entire sentences. Google did not present information on how often the AI's creative rewriting was incorrect or inaccurate.
Users can dictate to Gemini what they'd like it to do, from ordering pizza to planning vacations. Google says Gemini will ask for permission before taking important steps, but it's not clear what safeguards are in place before the AI takes personal photos and posts them publicly.
Another new AI-powered feature includes the ability to create custom widgets, such as one that shows the current wind speed and precipitation, for both the phone and smartwatch, but the cost of accessing data and creating widgets has not been revealed.

While the inclusion of an omnipresent AI into Android may be helpful in overcoming digital roadblocks to productivity during daily use, no mention was made of the error rate of Gemini Intelligence AI in understanding and completing automated tasks, or its ability to withstand prompt injection hacks.
As others have unfortunately learned, modern AI can make big mistakes, including deleting years of work, emails, or even the entire hard drive. According to Mindy Brooks, VP Android Platform, "Gemini will get to work only when I say so, and stops as soon as the task is done." Google has not made clear how quickly runaway AI can be stopped or who is responsible for the data and financial loss caused by its mistakes.
The new Gemini Intelligence AI features will roll out starting summer 2026 to Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy smartphones.
