New Xiaomi flagship shows strong early benchmark scores, edges past Xiaomi 17 Ultra

The Xiaomi 17 Max is the company's upcoming flagship smartphone. Ahead of its launch in China, the smartphone has reportedly surfaced on Geekbench, giving an early look at its performance.
According to a @yabhishekhd on X, the Xiaomi 17 Max carries the model number "2605EPN8EC." On Geekbench, the phone is listed with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and 16GB of RAM. The listing also reveals that the phone runs Android 16.
The Xiaomi 17 Max scored 3,750 points in single-core and 11,674 points in multi-core CPU tests on Geekbench. In our testing, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra scored 3,722 and 11,411 points, respectively, putting the Xiaomi 17 Max slightly ahead.
Notably, the Xiaomi 17 Max’s scores are also above the current average for Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 phones, which sit at 3,651 points in single-core and 11,188 points in multi-core testing.
Key highlights of the Xiaomi 17 Max
Ahead of the May 21 launch in China, the company has revealed several key details about the device. The Xiaomi 17 Max features a 200MP main camera, while the rest of the Xiaomi 17 lineup uses a 50MP primary sensor. It also packs the largest battery in the lineup with an 8,000mAh capacity. The smartphone will match the Xiaomi 17 Ultra and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max in screen size with a 6.9-inch panel. In other news, the company has confirmed the global launch of the new Xiaomi 17T series.
