Google expands Gemini’s Personal Intelligence to India

Google is launching Personal Intelligence for Google Gemini in India. This feature enables the AI to integrate more deeply with your personal data to be more useful to you personally, and it’s coming to subscribers of select Google AI plans today.
Personal intelligence is a feature of Google Gemini that allows the service to draw from data in other Google services like Gmail, Photos, YouTube, and Search all at once, allowing Gemini to make better, more context aware suggestions. Google gives the example of someone making a trip to Jaipur, with all of the data Gemini has on you, the service could pull up booking details from Gmail, screenshots or related gift ideas from Photos, and make restaurant recommendations from videos you’ve seen on YouTube.
Google rolled out Personal Intelligence to U.S. users in January, with India being the second group. It is being made available to Google AI Pro and Google AI Pro Ultra subscribers in both countries.
A focus on privacy
Even though Google already has all of your data, most people have concerns about the company using their data to train their AI – and there’s no need to worry this time.
“Our goal is to improve your experience while keeping your data secure and under your control. Built with privacy in mind, Gemini doesn’t train directly on your Gmail inbox or Google Photos library. We train on limited info, like specific prompts in Gemini and the model’s responses, to improve functionality over time,” the Google India team explained.
Google has been working on making Gemini feel more integrated and less like an app you have to visit to get things done. Features like Personal Intelligence, along with ongoing work on agentic capabilities on some of the best smartphones and tools like the rumoured “Your Day” feed, all point to a future where Gemini operates more proactively in the background.
For now, availability remains limited, but Google says it plans to expand the feature to more countries over time.
