Ultralight laptop under 1 kg: Lenovo officially launches ThinkPad X13 Gen 7

After already having a sneak preview in Japan, Lenovo has now officially unveiled its smallest ThinkPad laptop for the worldwise release. This is the Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Gen 7, the 13.3-inch clamshell for business travelers.
Overall, this is not a huge upgrade compared with the older ThinkPad X13 Gen 6 we tested, as Lenovo does not update the design. The basic specs, like the starting weight 930 g, stay identical, making the Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Gen 7 one of the lightest ThinkPad laptops ever made.
With the casing and design remaining unchanged, the changes are confined to the inside of the device. Naturally, Lenovo adopts the newest available CPU platforms, AMD Ryzen AI 400 and Intel Core Ultra 300.
It is worth noting that Lenovo will apparently not offer the Core X7 or Core X9 variants of Panther Lake, as there are no ARC graphics listed in the specifications, but even the normal Panther Lake CPUs should be a worthwhile upgrade. After all, the previous model shipped with Arrow Lake, and mostly Arrow Lake U, which was based on the now three years old Meteor Lake platform. With Panther Lake, Lenovo is upgrading the SSDs to PCIe 5.0, and there is a new 64 GB variant, too - the previous ThinkPad X13 G6 (available on Amazon) was limited to 32 GB. RAM is still soldered, as on the previous X series models.
Pricing and availability: Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Gen 7
The Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Gen 7 will start at $1,500. According to Lenovo, it will be available in May 2026.
