Galaxy Glasses: Samsung's answer to the Ray-Ban Meta will run Android XR with Gemini

Last October, Samsung announced the Galaxy XR as the first commercially-available device powered by Google's Android XR. Now, a leak has revealed details of another wearable powered by the same operating system.
When Google announced Android XR in late 2024, it revealed that the OS will power headsets and smart glasses. With a headset already available, Samsung has turned its focus to smart glasses, and this leak focuses on one of two that are reported to be in development.
Called the Samsung Galaxy Glasses and codenamed “Jinju”, according to a report by Android Headlines and info provided by OnLeaks. The new pair of smart glasses will go up against rivals such as the Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) and the recently launched Huawei AI Glasses. They won't have a display but will have a camera.
Another highlight of the Samsung Galaxy Glasses is support for Gemini. With the AI assistant, users will be able to ask questions, translate texts, and receive directions.
Samsung Galaxy Glasses Alleged Specifications
Technical specifications revealed by the source, albeit not confirmed, include a Snapdragon AR1 processor, a 12MP Sony IMX681 camera, and a 155mAh battery capacity. The spec sheet also mentions Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi, directional speakers, and photochromic transition lenses.
Samsung's new smart glasses are also reported to weigh about 50 grams. Of course, if there are multiple styles, we can expect their weights to be different. Last year, Samsung revealed it was working with Warby Parker and Gentle Monster on a pair of smart glasses, so there's a chance these are the same glasses.
Samsung's Meta Ray-Ban Display
The Samsung Galaxy Glasses are reported to be priced between $379 and $499. The Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) have a similar price range (available on Amazon). However, whether the price of the Galaxy Glasses will remain within this range when they are finally announced remains to be seen.
In addition to the Galaxy Glasses, Samsung is also working on a second pair of smart glasses codenamed “Haean” which will have a micro-LED display like the Meta Ray-Ban Display. These glasses will unsurprisingly cost more, with a reported price range of between $600 and $900. They are also expected to be announced in 2027, whereas the Galaxy Glasses are expected to be released this year, with a possibility of them being announced at the Galaxy Z Unpacked event.
