Google has unveiled the Pixel Buds Pro, the first premium entry in the Pixel Buds series. Revealed alongside the Pixel 6a, Pixel Watch, Pixel Tablet and the Pixel 7 series, the Pixel Buds Pro offer several compelling features, including active noise cancellation (ANC). Incidentally, the Pixel Buds Pro will not feature Tensor-branded hardware, even though Google has included a six-core processor to handle ANC.
Moreover, Google has included a new custom audio processor and a neural engine, which it claims adds up to the 'best mobile audio hardware' it has ever designed. Unsurprisingly, the Pixel Buds Pro will provide a Transparency Mode and automatic audio switching, details of which Google has not provided yet.
Furthermore, the earbuds will support Bluetooth multipoint and should deliver up to 7 hours of battery life with ANC enabled. Alternatively, the earbuds will offer up to 11 hours of listening time without ANC enabled. Google added that spatial audio head tracking will be coming to the Pixel Buds Pro too, albeit not until later this year.
The Pixel Buds Pro will be orderable in the US from July 21. During Google's presentation, it confirmed that the earbuds will start shipping a week later, as will the Pixel 6a. For reference, the Pixel Buds Pro will come in four colours, all available for US$199.
