Complaints about official cases for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have started to pile up online. While Google markets its US$29.49 case as stylish, partially transparent and built using 30% post-consumer recycled (PCR) material, some units struggle to keep their box-fresh look. As photos from Amazon and Reddit show, first-party cases start showing issues after just a few months of use.
According to dozens of reports from consumers, numerous official Pixel Cases have already discoloured, with examples showing distinct yellow or brown tints, rather than their black, green, pink and white stock tints. Typically, cases should not start discolouring for a few years of use, if ever for a case as expensive as Google's first-party ones.
Worse still, others have complained that the plastic shell can deforms. As one extreme example below shows, the deformation makes the Pixel Case unusable in some instances. It is worth stressing that the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro official cases have also received countless positive reviews, so not all units are affected by the issues shown below. However, the volume of similar complaints suggests that there are some quality control problems, or a bad batch somewhere. At the time of publication, Google has not yet commented on any of the problems described.
