CES 2024 | Gigabyte Aorus 17X and Aorus 16X: Flagship gaming laptops announced with 14th-gen Intel HX processors
Gigabyte revealed two high-end gaming laptops alongside the cheaper Aorus G6X, G6 and G5 at CES 2024, the Aorus 17X and the Aorus 16X. These are not to be confused with the Meteor Lake-powered Aorus 17 and Aorus 15. While they share a lot of specs, the X-branded SKUs focus more on raw power than just AI chops.
The Gigabyte Aorus 17X features a 17.3-inch QHD (2,560 x 1,440) screen with a refresh rate of 240 Hz. It comes with Pantone validation and covers 100% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. Nvidia G-Sync and Advanced Optimus are also supported. One can configure the Gigabyte Aorus 17 with an Intel Core i9-14900HX only. For the GPU, you can pick between a GeForce RTX 4090 and RTX 4080. Memory and storage are capped at 32 GB of DDR5 5,600 and 2 TB PCIe Gen4. An additional PCIe slot is provided for further expansion.
Moving on, the Gigabyte Aorus 16X uses a 16-inch 16:10 WQXGA (2,560 x 1,600) panel that refreshes at 165 Hz. It has the same features as the Aorus 17X. Things get interesting when you peek under the Aorus 16X's hood. The choice of CPUs ranges between current and last-gen Intel parts, including the Core i9-14900HX, Core i7-14650HX, and Core i7-13650HX. For the GPU, one can pick between a GeForce RTX 4070 or RTX 4060.
The Gigabyte Aorus 17X and Aorus 16X have nearly the same I/O and connectivity features. They include Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, one Thunderbolt 4.0 port, USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A ports, Ethernet, a 3.5 mm combo audio jack, HDMI 2.1, and mini DP. The number of ports vary slightly according to the model; refer to the attached spec sheet for more information.
