While Nvidia’s RTX 40 laptop GPUs are quite powerful, machines based on higher-end components like the RTX 4080 and the RTX 4090 can be quite expensive for most users. On the other hand, cost-effective options like the RTX 4050 and RTX 4060 mobile boards, while coming under $1,000, can feel underpowered when running the latest AAA games. For instance, the RTX 4060 and the RTX 4050 fail to hit 60 FPS in Star Wars Outlaws at FHD with settings pushed to ultra/high.

Additionally, sales can often push the RTX 4070 laptops down to the same price as the RTX 4060 machines. One such sale has now dropped the price of the Gigabyte Aorus 15X to only $999.99 on Woot. This represents a discount of more than $600 on the typical price of the laptop on Amazon.
Before we continue, it is important to mention that, even though the machine is brand new, Woot only offers a 90-day warranty on the Gigabyte Aorus 15X. So, if you want a full warranty, you’ll unfortunately have to look towards a considerably more expensive unit from Amazon.
Specs-wise, the Gigabyte Aorus 15X on sale pairs the RTX 4070 laptop with the high-end Core i9-13980HX, 16 GB of DDR5 RAM, 1 TB of storage, and a 15.6-inch QHD display. The IPS panel boasts 100% coverage of the sRGB gamut, a 165 Hz refresh rate, and slim bezels.
Our review of the Aorus 15X ASF showed that Gigabyte has managed to put the hardware to good use with the RTX 4070 performing better than the category average. As a result, games like Dead Space Remake and Resident Evil 4 Remake ran at above 80 FPS at FHD/ultra.
Moreover, the laptop never got too hot to handle during our testing with comfortable temps during day-to-day operation.
Finally, the Gigabyte Aorus 15X lasted for 8 hours in our WLAN test, which means that the laptop should get you through a normal workday. Of course, this doesn’t apply to gaming, as the machine only managed around 2 hours under full load.
