CES 2024 | Gigabyte Aorus G6X, Aorus G6, Aorus G5: Mid-range gaming laptops announced with Intel Raptor Lake processors.
Gigabyte announced a bunch of new mid-range gaming laptops at CES 2024: the Aorus G6X, Aorus G6 and Aorus G5. It has torn a page out of Asus' playbook and opted to use last-gen Intel Raptor Lake hardware, reserving the 14th-gen HX and Meteor Lake for higher-tier offerings.
The main difference between the Gigabyte Aorus G6X and the Aorus G6/G5 is the choice of CPU. The G6X gets an Intel Core i7-13650HX, while the G6 and G5 get a Core i7-13620H. GPU options are limited to the GeForce RTX 4060 and RTX 4050 across all three models. Similarly, they support up to 32 GB of DDR5 4,800 RAM and a 2 TB NVMe SSD.
Gigabyte has fit the Aorus G6X and Aorus G6 with the same 16-inch WUXGA (1920x1200) panel that refreshes at 165 Hz. Interestingly, only the G6X has a MUX switch. The Aorus G5 gets a bog-standard 15.3-inch 144 Hz FHD (1,920 x 1,080) panel (without a MUX switch). Lastly, the Aorus G6X gets a 76 Wh battery with a 180 W power brick, while the Aorus G6 and Aorus G5 get a 56 Wh cell with a 150 W brick.
I/O is more or less identical across the board, with the Aorus G6X getting one fewer USB-A port for some reason. All three SKUs get 2x USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C ports, an HDMI port, a micro SD card reader, a mini DP port and a 3.5 mm combo audio jack. Gigabyte will reveal the Aorus G6X, Aorus G6 and Aorus G5 prices later.
