Gears of War: E-Day multiplayer reveal date confirmed

We already know when the open beta for Gears of War: E-Day multiplayer will go live. But there’s little information about the game mode itself, and Microsoft wants to change that. The company has shared a date for the multiplayer reveal.

Taking to X, the official Gears of War account posted an update regarding multiplayer. The reveal is scheduled for July 30 at 6am PT/9am ET. It will be presented on the Xbox YouTube channel, but it is unclear if it will be a live event, a pre-recorded showcase, or just a gameplay trailer.

With Gears of War: E-Day, Microsoft wants to solidify its stance on Xbox exclusives. As of now, it is one of just two Xbox exclusives that have been announced. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma and her team believe that in order to bring back value to Xbox, it needs to have exclusives, a perspective that not all gamers share.

Xbox as a business is not in a healthy state, but it hopes to be there someday, and it’s starting with a huge company-wide reset. Xbox console sales have been dwindling for a long time, and that’s expected to continue given yet another price hike coming August 1st. In the meantime, sales spiked quite a bit in June as fans wanted to secure a console before the prices went up. Xbox has also remained silent on whether it will be killing physical game discs just like Sony, but has been moving forward with its disc-to-digital Positron program.
