Garmin has released software version 13.17 for Venu 3, Venu 3s and vivoactive 5 smartwatch users. This stable release arrives hot on the heels of the beta version 13.17 update, bringing all changes from the 13.xx testing cycle to these Garmin wearables.
The release notes for software version 13.17 indicate that there are improvements to Body Battery accuracy for users with multiple devices. This is thanks to the new Body Battery TrueUp feature, which syncs the relevant data collected by your wearables for a more precise estimate of your energy levels. Plus, these smartwatches can be paired with the new HRM 200 heart rate monitor (curr. $149.99 at Amazon).
On top of this, users of the Venu 3 and vivoactive 5 wearables can now set a passcode for additional security. There is support for the latest wave of Connect IQ watch faces and apps, including the ComingUp to-do list app. All models get an upgrade to GCM Translations version 2.25, and the Venu 3 series watches also gain the updated Golf Courses Database version 1.05.
Unfortunately, users have already flagged that they have experienced issues after this update. Firstly, version 13.17 does not appear to resolve the battery drain issue reported by some customers after the previous update. Other potential problems include failed Wi-Fi Sync with Garmin Connect, wiped data and Google Assistant has stopped working for some smartwatch users with Android smartphones. Software version 13.17 is now available for all users of the Venu 3, Venu 3s and vivactive 5 smartwatches. If you want to download it, you can do so by going to the Menu > Settings > System > Software Update.
