Fitbit smartwatch owners could soon benefit from a brand-new feature. We previously reported on the upcoming Fitbit Sleep Lab, which has not yet been officially announced by the manufacturer. However, some details on this new feature have already been found in the corresponding APK file. 9To5Google’s APK analysis has now revealed that Fitbit is not just working on expanding its sleep analysis, but also trying to actively improve the overall sleep quality of its customers.
To be more exact, Fitbit smartwatches could soon help smartwatch users in figuring out when their perfect bed and wake-up time is. This feature should take individual habits as well as genetic factors into consideration, all of which have an impact on the personal circadian rhythm. Users who follow their so-called natural circadian rhythm could improve their overall wellbeing by doing so.
In order to determine optimal sleep and wake-up times, the app asks users about their energy level three times per day. These results are combined with data that Fitbit smartwatches collect during sleep. Once the app has figured out the ideal sleep cycle, it will suggest according adjustments to the alarm. The new feature can also point out a possible discrepancy between the actual sleep and the recommended sleep duration, which can result in a sleep deficit. It remains unclear when this quite useful Sleep Lab feature will roll out on Fitbit smartwatches.
