Garmin has released a stable update for the Forerunner 55 smartwatch. This was the first of the Forerunner x55 series models to launch, released in June 2021. Version 11.02 arrives around seven months after this last update, version 11.01. The older release fixed an issue linked to PacePro plans.
Software version 11.02 is a similarly small update, with one bug fix for the Forerunner 55 smartwatch. It addresses an issue with the language selection tool, which could occur after a device was reset. It is unclear whether or not this release also addresses an older problem with the backlight. Plus, it is worth noting that a Forerunner 55 user has reported a looping issue after installing this update.
In a post on the Garmin forum, a team member confirmed that software update 11.02 should have reached at least 50% of users of the Forerunner 55 smartwatch (curr. $169 at Amazon). Unfortunately, it is unclear when this rollout will be complete. You can download the update either via the Garmin Connect Mobile app or Garmin Express. Garmin also recently started to push the beta version 24.04 update for the Forerunner 255 and Forerunner 955 smartwatches, though this was paused due to a crash-related issue.
