Samsung has just officially confirmed that One UI 8 Watch will be released in July. A beta version will be released soon in the US, available for the Galaxy Watch 5 and newer models. This major operating system update is expected to not only update watches such as the Galaxy Watch 7 to Google Wear OS 6, but also introduce a number of new health features.
Most notably, the update introduces a function called the 'Antioxidant Index'. According to Samsung, alcohol consumption, smoking, UV radiation, stress or lack of sleep increase the amount of free radicals in the body, and antioxidants from healthy foods are said to neutralize these and thus prevent chronic diseases.
With One UI 8 Watch, the Samsung Galaxy Watch can measure carotenoids, an ingredient in certain vegetables, in the skin so that users can see whether their diet contains a sufficient amount of this antioxidant.
Samsung's new 'Running Coach' can create a personalized training program and provide users with real-time guidance on how to adjust their training to reach their desired goals. To set up the Running Coach, users must complete a 12-minute run, which assigns runners a score from 1 to 10 based on their fitness.
