Garmin has announced new Release Candidate builds for the Forerunner 255, Forerunner 265, Forerunner 955 and Forerunner 965, less than a week on from the release of Beta Version 16.16. To recap, Beta Version 16.16 brought various fixes and changes to all four smartwatches. However, Garmin included a more expansive changelog for the Forerunner 955 and Forerunner 965, as we discussed at the time.
This time, all smartwatches have identical changelogs with minimal changes from Beta Version 16.16. In a series of forum posts, Garmin explains that Beta Version 16.17 addresses an issue that caused a heading bug during course navigation. Additionally, Garmin has bundled 'various minor fixes', albeit without providing specifics.
Please note that Garmin is distributing Beta Version 16.17 in a 'pre-rollout state'. Thus, you must install the latest beta by heading to Main Menu, System, Software Update and then tapping Check For Updates. As a result, you must have added a Wi-Fi network for your Forerunner 255, Forerunner 265, Forerunner 955 or Forerunner 965. Moreover, Garmin is likely to push Beta Version 16.17 as a new stable update, provided that it observes no critical issues during public beta testing.
