The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has published initial documentation for an unreleased Fitbit device, a nod to an impending release of a new Fitbit-branded fitness tracker. As 9to5Google notes, the FCC has included G3MP5 under Google's FCC ID. While this does not necessarily reveal the device's marketing name, it is the first Fitbit product to fall under Google's FCC ID since the latter's acquisition of the former in January 2021.
As usual, the FCC does not reveal too many device details. However, the information that is present in these early disclosures has allowed the likes of 9to5Google and @fttest_en to deduce what device Fitbit could be preparing to release. For example, the FCC has only tested G3MP5 for Bluetooth connectivity. Thus, it would appear that the device lacks NFC or Wi-Fi, ruling out Fitbit's premium offerings.
Additionally, Fitbit informed the FCC that the latter's e-label will be viewable under Settings, Device Info and then Regulatory Info. In other words, the process will be the same as the one Fitbit designed for the Charge 5, which has almost reached its second anniversary. The omission of NFC suggests that G3MP5 relates to an even cheaper model, potentially Ace 3 or Luxe successors. Either way, the appearance of an FCC listing implies that Fitbit will launch a new fitness tracker later this year, with the Google Pixel Watch 2 also expected to arrive in the autumn alongside the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.
