The GameSir Pocket Taco is a mini controller designed for vertical mobile gaming. Like 8BitDo’s FlipPad, it clips to the bottom of smartphones, turning them into retro-style handheld consoles with Game Boy-style controls. The original Pocket Taco debuted at CES 2026 in a classic gray colorway, but it is now getting a new exclusive purple version.
However, unlike the standard model that is now available for preorder on GameSir’s website, the new Atomic Purple edition is exclusive to Kickstarter and will not be sold after the campaign ends. It is currently available to back for $30, which is about $5 cheaper than the gray version.
GameSir Pocket Taco - Atomic Purple features
The new Atomic Purple version is a striking redesign of the original. It sports a two-tone translucent purple shell with a D pad, ABXY buttons, and start and select buttons in a deeper shade of purple that creates a nice contrast. Aside from the cosmetic changes, it is the same controller under the hood. It comes with tactile triggers and bumpers on the back and opens up to fit smartphones of different thickness.
Moreover, it connects via Bluetooth, so it should be compatible with both Android and iOS devices. Unlike the 8BitDo FlipPad, it includes shoulder buttons and triggers. On top of that, it comes with a built-in 600mAh battery and a cutout for charging your phone while gaming. The controller itself charges via USB-C and supports extra customizations via the GameSir app.
The Pocket Taco in Atomic Purple is available to back on Kickstarter, with orders expected to start shipping from March 14 after successful funding. The original gray version is still up for preorder on the GameSir website for $34.99, but it will not start shipping until March 15.
