New videos have shown that Samsung has managed to deliver a substantial decrease in crease visibility between the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition.

It seems that Samsung has started shipping Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition units to those who copped the device during its first wave of pre-orders. To recap, the company's latest foldable debuted under a month ago in South Korea before being repackaged as the Samsung W25 shortly afterwards in China.

On the face of it, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition looks like the spitting image of the Galaxy Z Fold6 (curr. $1,299.99 - renewed on Amazon). However, the former contains numerous hardware improvements over the latter, even if it relies on an unchanged 4,400 mAh battery and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy chipset.

On the one hand, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition sports a new 200 MP primary camera. On the other hand, it features several design changes from the regular Galaxy Z Fold6. For example, Samsung has reduced its thickness by over 12% to 10.6 mm while also making it 10 mm wider when opened.

As a result, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition has an 8-inch internal display, compared to the 7.6-inch equivalent inside the Galaxy Z Fold6. Based on early videos, it appears that Samsung has delivered on rumours that it would reduce crease visibility, which has been a shortcoming of all Galaxy Z Fold releases until now.

Consequently, it is difficult to make out the crease whatsoever when the device's foldable display is active. With that being said, Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) no longer believes that the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition features Ultra Flexible Glass (UFG). Instead, he now reports that Samsung has used thicker Ultra Thin Glass (UTG), albeit at the expense of S Pen compatibility.
