Samsung is unlikely to ever release its greatest foldable to date globally. Nonetheless, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition can now be seen in the first English-language unboxing video, during which the new foldable is also compared with the existing Galaxy Z Fold6.

The Galaxy Z Fold6 remains Samsung's global answer to thinner foldables like the Honor Magic V3, Pixel 9 Pro Fold and the OnePlus Open (curr. $1499.99 on Amazon). However, the company is now offering a much thinner alternative in its home market and China, which it sells as the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition and Samsung W25, respectively.

Unfortunately, it seems that neither will see the light of day globally, at least officially. Regardless, Jeff Springer of SammyGuru has managed to get his hands on one. Better yet, Springer has already shared what appears to be the device's first English unboxing video, which we have embedded below.

As the photos above show, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition looks thinner than its 12% reduction suggests when compared to the Galaxy Z Fold6. The Special Edition is also taller and wider than its foldable counterpart, albeit while maintaining a more ergonomic footprint than the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Moreover, Springer provides a closer look at the Special Edition's crease, which is much less noticeable than the equivalent that dominates the Galaxy Z Fold6.

Furthermore, it appears that the Special Edition also has a more useable cover display, thanks to its extra 4.7 mm width when closed. Ultimately, the software experience will be familiar to anyone who has used a recent Galaxy Z Fold model. Incidentally, one can still import a Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, although at a relatively high price for the time being.
