Galaxy F55: Samsung unveils new vegan leather smartphone before official release
Samsung has finally shared official launch details for the Galaxy F55, which is likely to be slightly larger than the similarly-named Galaxy A55 (curr. $385 on Amazon). For reference, Evan Blass has already revealed what the Galaxy F55 looks like. Likewise, a leaked Geekbench listing has seemingly confirmed some of the handset's specifications.
In short, it appears that Samsung has based the Galaxy F55 around the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, an older chipset that we reviewed in devices like the Honor 90 5G, Motorola Razr 40 and Xiaomi 13 Lite. Somewhat predictably, the Galaxy F55 is said to contain 8 GB of RAM with Android 14 pre-installed, just like many of Samsung's other recent smartphone releases. Likewise, Samsung's official promotional images confirm that the Galaxy F55 has three rear-facing cameras, mirroring its predecessor.
On top of that, Samsung claims that the handset's Apricot Crush and Raisin Black colour options are the 'segment's slimmest and lightest vegan leather smartphone'. However, this only applies to smartphones released so far this year in India. Consequently, it is unclear how thin and light the Galaxy F55 is at this stage. Nonetheless, Samsung has outlined that the handset will debut on May 17 at 12:00 IST (06:30 UTC). Furthermore, the company has teased that the handset will retail for INR '2x999'. If the Galaxy F55 is anything like its predecessor, then it will start for approximately INR 27,999 (~$336), or around that price.
