We previously reported on the upcoming Fujifilm X-T30 III and speculated that the new compact X-Mount camera would likely be something akin to a modernised Fujifilm X-T30 II — that's to say a capable APS-C camera with the same Fujifilm X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor and an updated processor. Recent leaks, however, suggest that Fujifilm will be sticking to the tried-and-true X-T30 recipe but with an updated control scheme.
The most recent Fujifilm X-T30 III leaks, shared by FujiRumors, claim that the new compact X-Mount camera will launch as soon as October 23, despite the fact that Fujifilm has yet to announce an actual X Summit or similar announcement event. FujiRumors generally has a good track record for leaks, although it is peculiar that there has been no announcement and Fujifilm hasn't published any teasers about an upcoming launch on any of its social media pages.
Further leaks indicate that the Fujifilm X-T30 III will feature more or less the same body as the X-T30 II, albeit with the inclusion of a film simulation dial. It's unclear if this new dial will replace the exposure compensation, shutter speed, or drive dials from the X-T30 II, but sticking to the design of the X-T30 II means that the X-T30 III will be a rather compact camera, even if that also means that the ergonomic improvements from the X-T50 are missing.
The inclusion of both a film simulation dial and an EVF also means that the X-T30 III will likely not feature IBIS, since keeping the price of the new camera down may prove to be somewhat difficult if the X-T30 III comes too close to the X-T50 in terms of features. Neither the X-T50 nor the X-E5 are particularly cheap, with the X-T50 coming in at $1,599 and the X-E5 costing $1,699 on Amazon.
