The Fujifilm X100VI (approx. $2,000 on Amazon) pairs a 40 MP APS-C sensor with a 23 mm f/2 lens, delivering a full-frame equivalent focal length of 35 mm. To enable shooting at other focal lengths, Fujifilm offers the WCL-X100 II and TCL-X100 II converters, each priced at around $400.
Viltrox has now unveiled two alternatives to these converters: the wide-angle WCL-X100VI and the telephoto TCL-X100VI. Besides being significantly more affordable, they are designed to better complement the X100VI’s aesthetics. The wide conversion lens widens the compact camera's view to a 28 mm full-frame equivalent, whilst the tele conversion lens provides a 50 mm focal length. According to Viltrox, these converters don’t compromise sharpness and light sensitivity.
Housed in a metal body, the wide-angle converter weighs just 130 g (4.6 oz), whereas the tele converter is heavier at 230 g (8.1 oz). Each conversion lens features five elements in four groups and includes a filter thread – 49 mm on the wide and 67 mm on the tele – for mounting standard ND or polarising filters.
