The Fujifilm X-T5 (from $1,899 on Amazon) was released back in November 2022, and a successor is finally expected to hit the market in 2026. According to the latest information from FujiRumors, the Fujifilm X-T6 will be officially unveiled in September. In the meantime, the Vietnamese retailer FujifilmShop has already listed the new camera.
Since the retailer is not affiliated with Fujifilm and operates independently, this info should be treated with caution. According to the online shop, the Fujifilm X-T6 will continue to use a 40MP APS-C sensor, but a newer Fujifilm X-Trans VI CMOS sensor is supposedly on board. It is also not surprising that Fujifilm is expected to opt for the newer X-Processor 6.
The combination of this new sensor and processor could make it possible to take photos at a resolution of 200 instead of 160 megapixels in multi-shot mode. Videos are also expected to be recorded at 8K rather than 6.2K resolution. One upgrade that many users are likely looking forward to is the display, which can once again be fully unfolded, which makes it easier to take selfies as well as photos and videos from unusual angles.
An improved autofocus system with 500 focus points, image stabilization that allows shutter speeds up to eight stops longer without a tripod, battery life of up to 750 photos per charge and 20 film simulations make the retailer’s claims sound like a mix of informed speculation and a wish list. Whether these specifications are accurate should be clarified by leaks in the coming months.
