Fossil is now on its 5th generation of Android smartwatches, having launched its two new models today. Called the Carlyle HR and Julianna HR, the two smartwatches both have 44 mm diameters with 12 mm thick cases. The Gen 5 smartwatches have 22 mm wide straps too and are water-resistant up to 3 atmospheres (ATM).
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 3100 SoC underpins both devices, which Fossil complements with 8 GB of storage and 1 GB of RAM. The company has included an accelerometer, altimeter, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, heart rate sensor, microphone, NFC and untethered GPS too. Unsurprisingly, these allow the Carlyle HR and Julianna HR to be used for heart rate tracking or with Google Pay, among other functions.
The Gen 5 smartwatches support Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, have a touchscreen and will reportedly last up to 36 hours between charges. Fossil claims that the two devices will last up to one week in clock mode too.
The Carlyle HR and Julianna HR also come with 2-years limited warranty and in three colours. Fossil offers the former with Black Silicone, Dark Brown Leather and Stainless Steel straps, with all but the Stainless Steel version having black cases. Meanwhile, all versions of the Julianna HR have rose gold cases, which Fossil pairs with Black Stainless Steel, Blush Leather and Rose Gold-Tone Stainless Steel straps. The latter two are also adorned with crystals.
The Carlyle HR and Julianna HR are available to order now for US$295. Prices may vary between regions though, with Fossil also announcing the Gen 5 smartwatches in other countries including Australia and the UK.
