Fossil teases a late August 2021 launch for the Gen 6 smartwatches
Fossil is rumored to produce successors to its Gen 5 line of high-end smartwatches in the near future. These new wearables are thought to be the first to rock the Plus version of the Snapdragon Wear 4100 platform. Now, they may also have a launch date.
The Gen 6 smartwatches are thought to have a range of different styles that are more or less iterative evolutions compared to their previous generations, complete with ostensible women's variants thanks to their almost inevitable bedazzled bezels and gold accents.
In terms of specs and sensors, they are all projected to support popular features such as sleep-tracking, heart-rate analysis and blood-oxygen measurements, if not more advanced options such as blood-pressure monitoring or body composition estimates.
Their maker has been rumored to wait until September to confirm or deny these leaks. However, a new "Fossil Insiders" email advises fans that the Gen 6s are coming (way more, and way faster, apparently) soon.
To this end, the circular includes a countdown that ends on August 30, 2021. Therefore, it is now a reasonable assumption that the watches will debut on this date, in some markets at least.
