Nvidia officially revealed the RTX 5060 Ti 8 GB/16 GB and the RTX 5060 on April 15th. However, the company decided to push the RTX 5060 to May while launching the RTX 5060 Ti first in April. As such, the 8 and 16 GB variants of the RTX 5060 Ti are already on the market. Nvidia has, so far, announced no release date of the RTX 5060.
Thankfully, VideoCardz has obtained the RTX 5060 release date and review embargo information, as Nvidia has communicated the said details to AIBs. The RTX 5060 is now scheduled to launch on May 19th. The reviews of the GPU reportedly land on the same day.
RX 9060 XT and RTX 5060 are expected to release side by side
We reported previously that AMD has allegedly decided to bring up the launch of the RX 9060 XT to May 18th while pushing the RX 9070 GRE release date back. Assuming this is true, the RX 9060 XT and the RTX 5060 are now launching one day apart. This puts both GPUs on a collision course as both cards are also expected to be priced similarly at $269-$299 for the 8 GB RX 9060 XT and $299 for the RTX 5060, respectively.
Based on these prices and the rumors that the 16 GB RX 9060 XT could cost as low as $329, Nvidia has a pretty tough fight on its hands.
Team Green’s 8 GB RTX 5060 Ti has been poorly received owing to its low VRAM, which impacts performance. If AMD decides to stick to the $329 reported price and scales back the launch or outright cancels the 8 GB RX 9060 XT as it is now rumored, Nvidia could, once again, find itself on the receiving end of scathing criticism.
For what it’s worth, the RTX 4060 was not a terrible card in terms of price/performance. With 25% more CUDA cores and more memory bandwidth, if Nvidia can ensure improved supply and accessible pricing, the RTX 5060 could be a hit with budget-conscious gamers.
