Deal | Fantasy 4X strategy game drops to a rare low of $2.99 on Steam

Endless Legend takes players to the dying planet of Auriga, where magic, strange creatures and ancient ruins coexist with the remnants of long-forgotten technology. As the leader of one of eight factions, you'll build an empire across multiple eras, found cities, research new technologies and develop your economy. At the same time, Auriga's inhabitants must battle not only each other but also increasingly long and harsh winters that gradually make the world less hospitable.
Each match takes place on a procedurally generated hex-based map, with time progressing one turn at a time. What truly sets Endless Legend apart from other 4X games, however, are its factions. The Roving Clans, for example, cannot declare war at all but compensate with movable cities and major economic advantages. The Cultists, on the other hand, are limited to a single city but gradually assimilate the minor factions scattered across the map, steadily expanding their power base. Other factions focus more heavily on scientific progress, military conquest or unique resources. The game also incorporates light RPG elements. Players can recruit heroes, equip them with weapons and gear, and assign them as army commanders or city governors.

In its German review, Eurogamer praised the game's stunning world, highly asymmetrical factions and deep strategic gameplay. The biggest criticism was the steep learning curve. The tutorial explains many key mechanics only superficially, while the game's numerous menus and interconnected systems can easily overwhelm newcomers. Reviewers also criticized the occasionally passive AI, predictable diplomacy and a comparatively weak late game. In the end, Eurogamer awarded the game 8 out of 10.
Other review platforms reached similar conclusions. On Metacritic, Endless Legend holds a Metascore of 82 and a User Score of 7.9. On Steam, the strategy game from Amplitude Studios has earned an 83% positive rating based on more than 19,000 user reviews.
