FEVM launches new eGPU with Thunderbolt 5, OCuLink, and up to RTX 4090 Laptop

FEVM has launched a new eGPU in China, the FNGT5 Pro. This external GPU can be equipped with up to the Nvidia RTX 4090 Laptop, and according to the company, thanks to the built-in cooler, the top-end configuration can deliver up to 150 W of performance.

There are two more models available. One of them comes with the Nvidia RTX 4060 Laptop, and the other features the RTX 4080 Laptop. These are said to deliver up to 115 W and 150 W of performance, respectively. What's rather interesting about this FEVM dock is that it comes with a Thunderbolt 5 port.

The company notes that this port is backed by the JHL9480 controller and is capable of offering better performance than the OCuLink port. Speaking of which, in addition to the Thunderbolt 5 port, the eGPU has an OCuLink port, and it's said to be compatible with Lenovo's ThinkPad TGX interface.

In addition to these two, the FEVM eGPU has another Thunderbolt downlink port, and it's possibly there to provide additional power to the connected devices (3.3-feet Cable Matters Thunderbolt 5 cable curr. $27.99 on Amazon). There's a 10 Gbps USB Type-A port as well, and for display output, this external GPU has one HDMI 2.1 and one DisplayPort 1.4 port.

Design-wise, the FEVM FNGT5 Pro features a 0.8-liter chassis with airflow vents all over it. The company further highlights that the cooler inside can stay silent even during heavy loads. When it comes to the price, the base model of the eGPU costs CNY 3,998, around $555, while the mid-tier config with RTX 4080 Laptop is going for CNY 7,589, about $1,053. The option with the RTX 4090 Laptop, on the other hand, costs CNY 9,989, around $1,386.

As for global availability, FEVM doesn't usually bring most of its products outside China, but a good number of the company's products eventually become available on AliExpress.
