Plenty of desktop eGPU solutions already exist, many of which with support for Thunderbolt 3, Thunderbolt 4 or USB4-capable devices. A few offer OCuLink connectivity like the Minisforum DEG1 (curr. $99 on Amazon) though, which provide a significantly higher peak bandwidth than Thunderbolt 3, Thunderbolt 4 or USB4 equivalents. A smattering of Thunderbolt 5 eGPU docks now exist too, such as the Peladn Link S-3 or the Razr Core X V2.
Now, a new option has arrived with a focus on form factor rather than outright performance. Advertised as the NXPort, the eGPU dock measures in at 169 x 102 x 82 mm despite containing an ATX 3.1 certified power supply (PSU) capable of delivering up to 650 W. For context, the Aoostar AG02 measures 225 x 110 x 60 mm with a built-in 800 W PSU. It is worth keeping in mind that NXPort is limited to Thunderbolt 4 and USB4 transfer speeds, which top out at 40 Gbps.
Also, graphics card support is a concern, with no obvious solution shown to prevent a connected card from falling forward. Moreover, we can only see one 8-pin connector in the product renders. The NXPort will have cables trailing from both sides too, by virtue of its PSU and USB Type-C connector being placed beneath its PCIe retention clip. Currently, it looks like the NXPort will be funded through Indiegogo with no word on pricing or availability yet.
