An enterprising Redditor has built a rather impressive mini PC with a Lenovo Legion Go, a 3D-printed enclosure, and a stack of 18650 Li-Ion cells that have increased the battery capacity by 400%. The case features a number of other nifty features, like additional USB ports and quick-release clips for the handheld gaming PC.

Since the launch of the Lenovo Legion Go, there has been no shortage of people finding unexpected ways to use the powerful little gaming handheld, with one recent example seeing the device turn into a clamshell gaming platform that seems almost perfect for emulating arcade games. The latest in this stream of creators to repurpose the Legion Go, however, has managed to increase the battery capacity by nearly 400%.

The modder, who goes by u/MysteriousAlarm897 on Reddit, posted their mod to r/LegionGo, showing off a 3D-printed clamshell case that houses the Legion Go in the top half and a slim keyboard, supplemental battery capacity, and additional USB ports in the bottom of the clamshell. As a bonus, the whole thing is rather thoughtfully executed, too, with plenty of ventilation and access to the original buttons provided by cut-outs in the back, sides, and top of the case, and clips to hold the Legion Go in place. There are also no protruding cables anywhere to be found, with the only features interrupting the clean black façade being two Allen-head bolts where the top and bottom cases hinge together.

The new enclosure allows for easy removal of the Legion Go itself using clips on the left and right side of the handheld. It also allows for access to the built-in USB type-C port on the top of the Legion Go but adds two additional USB-C ports and two USB type-A ports on the left side of the bottom case.

There are no build instructions — although there are plenty of requests for them in the comment section — but the modder claims to have added 190 Wh of battery capacity to the Legion Go via 15 18650 Li-ion cells housed under what looks to be a Lenovo Multi-Device Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard (curr. $39.99 on Amazon). If that is measured correctly, that would put the Legion Go Laptop's total battery capacity at just shy of 240 Wh — or five times that of the original Legion Go's built-in battery capacity.

In our review of the Legion Go (curr. $749.99 on Lenovo US), we measured the handheld's average power consumption during gaming loads to be 42.6 W, giving it around 97 minutes of play time. Extrapolating this to the new larger battery, that could give the Legion Go Laptop around eight hours of play time away from the wall. This would be even longer when playing less demanding games or doing basic productivity tasks, although the creator has yet to confirm how long the battery lasts.
