Verdict: Comprehensive cleaning solution

The Ecovacs Deebot T30S Combo Complete is a comprehensive solution for floor cleaning. The combination of a vacuum robot and a vacuum cleaner makes perfect sense but is also subject to a few limitations. The base station is not only larger due to the side attachment for the vacuum cleaner but is also much more conspicuous with the suction pipe clipped onto the side. The solution is, therefore, anything but inconspicuous and requires a lot of space.

In the test, the upper mid-range robot vacuum did not show any major weaknesses, but cannot quite keep up with the top models. The cordless vacuum cleaner is solid, but ultimately nothing special.

However, this does not apply to the price, which according to the RRP is 1,299 euros for the Combo Complete version. However, you get two appliances in one. And the retail price has already slipped below the 1,000 euro mark in some stores.

If you have the space and need and want to buy a robot vacuum AND a new cordless vacuum cleaner, the Ecovacs Deebot T30S Combo Complete is a practical and generally good solution for everyday use. You won't find comparable solutions from other manufacturers at the moment.

Pros

+ comprehensive cleaning solution
+ good cleaning performance of the robot vacuum cleaner
+ extensive cleaning station
+ extractor for robot and vacuum cleaner
+ various nozzles for vacuum cleaners

Price and availability

The recommended retail price for the Ecovacs Deebot T30S Combo Complete is 1,299 euros. In the meantime, however, it is already available at much lower prices, currently costing just 919 euros on Amazon, for example.

Ecovacs offers a comprehensive range of vacuum and mopping robots in various price categories. The Deebot T30S series stands out from the portfolio. After all, the manufacturer not only offers the vacuum robot on its own but also the Deebot T30S Combo with the integrated handheld vacuum cleaner and the Deebot T30S Combo Complete with a corldess vacuum cleaner.

We have been using the latter extensively over the past few weeks. Our practical test of the Ecovacs Deebot T30S Combo Complete reveals the advantages and disadvantages of this comprehensive cleaning solution for floors.

Features: Robot vacuum cleaner and vacuum cleaner in a bundle

Ecovacs launched the Deebot T30S just a few months after the Deebot T30 (Pro) Omni Series onto the market. By and large, this is the same robot vacuum cleaner. The main differences between the T30S and the T30 are the all-in-one cleaning station and its design.

The Deebot T30 Omni and the even better-equipped T30 Pro Omni come with a relatively compact base, which is notable for its lower height, among other things. In the T30S series, on the other hand, Ecovacs reverts to the design of the familiar Omni Station, which we know from previous T models and the even higher-quality X series.

It not only vacuums the dust bin but also washes the mops with hot water at 70 degrees and then dries them with hot air. Ecovacs still does not add detergent but offers an intelligent re-mopping function based on the level of dirt.

The Combo version of the robot is particularly special. Here, the station comes with an "extension" on the right-hand side, which makes it even larger than usual. The T30S Combo has space for a handheld vacuum cleaner, which is also automatically vacuumed and charged by the station. The concept is not completely new but already existed for the Deebot X2.

If you want to go one step further, you can opt for the Deebot T30S Combo Complete that we tested. This also comes with a long tube including a ZeroTable floor nozzle, which transforms the handheld vacuum cleaner into a full-blown battery stick vacuum cleaner for floor cleaning. The nozzle and wand are clipped onto the side of the station.

This results in rather generous dimensions of approx. 75 cm in width, 45 cm in depth, and 85 cm in height including the vacuum cleaner. A lot of space is therefore required. The remaining three attachments (crevice nozzle, dusting brush, mini power brush) are cleverly arranged in a small drawer under the vacuum cleaner's charging holder.

Impressions of the Ecovacs T30S Combo Complete

Setup and app: Quickly done and numerous settings

As we have already experienced with various other robot hoovers from Ecovacs, the initial setup of the Deebot T30S Combo Complete works without any problems. The Ecovacs app takes the user by the hand and guides them through the installation.

The app offers many functions, which we have already discussed in the test of the X1 Omni for example. Not much has fundamentally changed here, but it has been adapted to the model. Of course, the T30S also creates virtual maps (with optional virtual boundaries) of its surroundings, which initially takes just a few minutes, and then displays the cleaning progress live.

The type of cleaning (vacuuming, mopping, vacuuming, and mopping and mopping after vacuuming), the water flow rate (three levels), the suction power (four levels), the number of cleaning cycles (1 or 2) and the cleaning speed (three levels) can be adjusted. In addition to automatic complete cleaning with a definable sequence, it is also possible to select a specific room or zone.

There are numerous features to choose from in the settings that can be adapted to your own requirements. These include scheduled cleaning, setting the cleaning sequence for individual rooms, the duration of hot air drying, activating TrueEdge adaptive edge wiping, and much more. The in-house Yiko voice assistant is also on board.

A special feature of the Ecovacs Deebot T30S Combo Complete can be found under "Station function". In addition to the usual cleaning features of the robot vacuum cleaner, the battery status of the vacuum cleaner can also be viewed there and its emptying can be triggered.

Navigation and obstacle detection: Good, but not perfect

The Deebot T30S robot vacuum, which is also available to buy on its own, is an upper mid-range model with upmarket features. TrueDetect 3D 3.0 and TrueMapping 2.0 are available for navigation and obstacle detection.

Accordingly, our expectations of the Deebot T30S are high. And it largely meets them. Navigation through individual rooms and across an entire floor was mostly reliable. However, anything else would be a disappointment in this price range, especially as the established LDS is used in the laser tower on the top.

In our test environment, it reliably avoided most obstacles. However, some obstacles were not detected by the TrueDetect 3D 3.0 with cross lasers and structured light built into the front, but only when they came into contact with the front bumper. These include, for example, the thin, black metal legs of a chair.

Loose shoelaces lying around and two 4x2 Lego bricks (approx. 3 x 2 cm) placed on top of each other were not detected by the Deebot T30S even in the more sensitive of the two TrueDetect 3D levels (to be found in the settings) and were regularly run over. However, this has already happened to many other models.

In addition to obstacle detection, overcoming obstacles is also an important issue. In the test, the robot vacuum overcame ledges up to 2 cm high as dummy thresholds and steps. That is a decent result. The robot itself measures approx. 10.5 cm, which limits its ability to pass under furniture.

Cleaning Robot Vacuum Cleaner: Edge mopping thanks to extendable mop

The robot vacuum from the Ecovacs Deebot T30S Combo Complete Bundle has a suction power of 11,000 Pa, which we already know from the two T30 models, as does the ZeroTangle anti-hair tangling technology. This means that it is not currently one of the most powerful models on the market, but still offers impressive performance.

First the edges and then the room are systematically swept in tracks. Particularly on smooth floors, apart from the lack of active corner cleaning, it doesn't have any major weaknesses and picks up the majority of the dirt. But anything else would be disappointing.

The wheat is usually separated from the chaff when it comes to robotic vacuum cleaners on carpets. The longer the pile, the more difficult it becomes. The Deebot T30S reliably vacuumed short-pile carpets in the test, automatically increasing the suction power and lifting the mops by 9 mm.

An extendable side brush, such as the one in the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra (approx. 1,200 euros at Galaxus) or the Dreame X40 Ultra (approx. 1,100 euros at Amazon), the Ecovacs Deebot T30S does not have one. If you want particularly extensive cleaning in corners, you also have to go for Ecovacs' top model Deebot X5 Omni (Pro) (from approx. 800 euros on Amazon).

However, the TruEdge adaptive cleaning function is still on board: the robot vacuum can extend the right rotating mop (seen from behind) sideways when mopping to ensure particularly thorough cleaning with borderless mopping along furniture, skirting boards, and the like. This worked well in the test.

The mopping result is satisfactory. Apart from the usual and occasional wiping marks left behind by models with two rotating mops, the Ecovacs Deebot T30S Combo Complete vacuum and mopping robot usually cleaned smooth floors reliably in the test. In the Ketchup hardness test, slight marks were left behind. We have experienced this done better, but also worse. If the robot detects coarser dirt, it can optionally perform an intelligent follow-up cleaning.

At regular intervals (adjustable in the app), the robot returns to the base station to clean the mops with 70°C hot water. The same is done together with a good 70 dB (measured from a distance of 1 m) loud suction of the relatively compact dust container at the end of a cleaning process. Even after the ketchup test, the mops are significantly cleaner afterwards. They are also removable and washable.

The mops are then dried with hot air. The duration can be set in three stages between two and four hours. The process is audible through a noise of approx. 38 dB and is intended to prevent the development of unpleasant odors.

Cordless vacuum cleaner: Solid, but not a top model

The vacuum cleaner supplied with the Deebot T30S Combo Complete has solid features and quality. It offers two different modes, one with maximum suction power and one with reduced power for a longer battery life. A rudimentary display provides information about the battery status but does not provide any further insights.

The device is undoubtedly not comparable with Dyson and the like, which is not to be expected for the combined price. However, it is sufficient for vacuuming areas not (sufficiently) cleaned by the robot vacuum cleaner and for occasionally vacuuming primarily smooth floors and short-pile carpets according to our test impressions. Handling is also pleasant thanks to the light weight of the hand part at approx. 1.2 kg. The appliance can also be laid completely flat on the floor to clean under furniture, for example.

It is practical that the Deebot T30S Combo Complete comes with three additional attachments in addition to the floor nozzle with a removable and 25 cm wide ZeroTangle Power brush, which has reliably resisted being wrapped in hair, has integrated LEDs and a long tube for floor cleaning. These correspond to the combo version and are primarily intended for use as a handheld vacuum cleaner.

A flat brush is designed for cleaning smooth surfaces, the crevice nozzle for gaps and hard-to-reach corners, and the mini power brush for sofas, beds, etc. They performed well in the test, making the Deebot T30S Combo a versatile cleaning companion.

After work, the vacuum cleaner is simply hooked back into the station after the respective attachment has been removed and stored separately. This not only charges the battery but also automatically vacuums the integrated dust container (as with the robot vacuum cleaner) into the large dust bag. It makes a noise of up to a good 70 dB but did not always reliably remove all dust accumulations and hair from the vacuum cleaner's narrow container in the practical test.

Battery life and power consumption: 100 square meters in 140 minutes

The manufacturer states a battery life of up to 290 minutes for the robot vacuum. Of course, these are only reference values at the lowest cleaning level. In the practical test, we let the Ecovacs Deebot T30S work with standard suction power (level 2 of 4), medium water flow rate, standard cleaning speed and activated TruEdge in standard mode until the battery was 15 percent empty and the robot vacuum automatically returned to the station to recharge. If the robot interrupts its station with an empty battery, it can also be optionally activated in the settings so that it only recharges until it believes it can complete the remaining work on the current map.

With a battery charge of 100 to 15 percent, the Deebot T30S did its job for a good 140 minutes in a practical test with the above settings. It cleaned a good 100 square meters in the test environment. The subsequent charging process with up to 28 W took around four hours and consumed a good 0.4 kWh over 3 hours, including the subsequent drying of the mops.

With daily cleaning of approx. 100 square meters and together with the standby consumption of approx. 2.5 Wh, our measurements show a monthly power consumption of the Ecovacs Deebot T30S of around 15 kWh. Assuming electricity costs of 0.30 euros per kWh, this equates to monthly costs of 4.50 euros.

The cordless vacuum cleaner also had to undergo a runtime test. It lasted a good 18 minutes with the motorized floor brush on the higher of the two power levels, which is even slightly longer than the 15 minutes promised by the manufacturer. However, after around 16 minutes, it reduced the power to the lower setting for the remaining two minutes. The battery life is significantly longer on the lower setting. The subsequent charging process with up to 16 W took a good 4.5 hours and consumed around 90 Wh (including the station's standby mode).

Ecovacs T30S Combo Complete Summary: Clever all-in-one solution

The Ecovacs Deebot T30S Combo Complete is a comprehensive floor cleaning solution. It is a clever combination of vacuum robot and cordless vacuum cleaner with various strengths and few weaknesses.
