Details of the Redmi 7 revealed, Snapdragon 632 in tow
Redmi has been on a roll since its conception back in January. The Xiaomi sub-brand has released two high-profile devices, the Redmi Note 7 and Note 7 Pro, that have both earned incredibly positive receptions. The company doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon, and it could be set to launch yet another device in the coming weeks—the Redmi 7.
Going by established tradition, the Redmi 7 will slot in behind the Redmi Note 7 in the series’ hierarchy for the year. There’s also a chance we get a Redmi 7A, which could be the company’s second-cheapest offering, possibly priced above the Redmi Go.
The Redmi 7 is said to sport a 6.26-inch HD+ LCD display. At the top of the display is a circular notch, housing an 8 MP selfie camera. At the back of the device is a dual camera setup, with the main sensor being a 12 MP one. We expect the secondary sensor to be a 2 MP depth sensor for bokeh purposes. There’s a fingerprint reader on the device's plastic back, too. At the bottom is a MicroUSB port.
Under the hood is a Snapdragon 632, Qualcomm’s mid-range SoC of choice this year. It’s a big step up from the Helio P22 on last year’s Redmi 6, which is nice to see. A 3/32 GB model is confirmed, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see a 4/64 GB one too.Redmi has taken to throwing big 4000 mAh batteries on its devices, and the Redmi 7 is no different.
The 3/32 GB model is said to come with an MSRP of about US$135.
