Xiaomi fans will have to wait a while longer for the release of the much anticipated Redmi Note 7 Pro, as Redmi executive Lu Weibing is said to have confirmed that the device will not be launched until March, after the Mi 9’s release this week.
Xiaomi released the Redmi Note 7 last month as the first device in the lineup of its new budget Redmi sub-brand. The Note 7 got a positive reception for its impressive specifications sheet relative to its low price tag, with features like the Snapdragon 660 and 48 MP Samsung GM1 sensor being the major items on the list. The company plans on releasing a Pro model, however, and that is the device most Xiaomi fans have been anticipating.
The Redmi Note 7 Pro is expected to feature a Snapdragon 675 and a 48 MP Sony IMX586, both of which will be direct improvements on the Snapdragon 660 and Samsung GM1 on the regular Note 7. The IMX586 is the major player here. The sensor has been used on devices like the Honor View 20 with impressive results, and is a qualitative upgrade on the Samsung GM1 since it shoots native 48 MP photos.
