The specifications and renders of the upcoming Xiaomi Redmi Go smartphone have been leaked online. Teenage leaker Ishan Agarwal tweeted a spec sheet and some images of the budget-level device that had initially been spotted by Philippines-based tech site Revü. It is expected the smartphone will be released on the Indian market soon.

It seems Xiaomi has a new device to cater for those users on a tight budget: the Redmi Go. The entry-level smartphone’s specifications and some renders have been spotted by Revü.com.ph and further shared by Ishan Agarwal on Twitter. The phone has a simple look and the features it offers are unsurprisingly basic. But when the price tag has been estimated at sub-₹5000 (~US$70) then not too much can be expected from it.

The 5-inch Xiaomi Redmi Go offers a 1280x720 display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425. Unsurprisingly, there is only 1 GB RAM and 8 GB storage (expandable to 128 GB with a microSD card). As the name suggests, the OS is Android Oreo Go edition, and there is a 3,000 mAh battery present. In terms of camera equipment, the Redmi comes with an 8 MP rear camera and a 5 MP selfie shooter. So nothing spectacular to write home about, although the amount of LTE frequency bands it covers seems decent.

The renders, which show the Xiaomi Redmi Go in both blue and black, don’t seem to hint at any exciting or unpleasant surprises. There are chunky bezels aplenty, a single camera and flash can be seen on the rear, and the Xiaomi logo is present. The phone measures 140.4 x 70.1 x 8.35 mm and weighs just 137 g. Considering its probable price point and the hardware included, the Xiaomi Redmi Go will likely find plenty of buyers looking for a starter device or handy back-up.
