Battery life was a decent 6 hours and 20 minutes, which is shy of all-day battery but still respectable. Overall, the Dell Inspiron 15 5000 is an attractive, well-built laptop that offers a good balance of both application and gaming performance. It’s a great choice for an all-round laptop without breaking the bank and offered excellent performance for a laptop at this price with decent battery life and deserves a Best Buy award.

Dell's mid-range 15-inch laptop has a tough time trying to find a solid balance between entry level anf high end. The design of the system is nice and has a good level of quality in the build. The display is bright and colorful but it doesn't have a 1080p resolution like the more expensive model.

The Inspiron 5547 is very inexpensive for a laptop with a Core i7 processor and a 15.6-inch display, but it just doesn’t measure up to Dell’s usual quality standards. Its fit and finish are suspect, and it should have more USB ports, a faster Wi-Fi adapter, and gigabit ethernet—even at this price.

Dell's Inspiron 15 5000 is a solid mid-range machine in an attractive aluminum and soft-touch package. The available 1080p touch screen is another plus. However, the machine seems overpriced for what you get. For around $100 more, the Inspiron 15 7000 features discrete graphics and longer battery life in an all-aluminum package.

Here's how Dell can improve the Inspiron 15 5000 Series and make it a more attractive proposition: the Ethernet adapter should really be Gigabit rather than 10/100Mbps, the third USB port should be USB 3.0 rather than USB 2.0, the SD card slot should allow cards to sit all the way inside rather than having them stick out halfway, and the 802.11ac module (a 1x1 Intel Wireless-AC 3160 module that's limited to 433Mbps) should be a faster 2x2 module with 867Mbps capability.

For those on a budget looking for a multimedia laptop that can handle movies and some gaming, the Dell Inspiron 15-5547 might be the device you are looking for. The 15.6-inch screen has a resolution of 1366 x 768, which isn't that great, especially on a 15-inch screen. Things won't look that sharp but being an IPS display means you get great viewing angles and solid colors. There is also an option for a touchscreen version.
The Dell is powered by a 4th generation i5 processor at 1.7 GHz with turbo technology. It's accompanied by 8 GB of RAM for all your multitasking needs.
It has two options for graphics rendering. The Intel HD Graphics 4400 handles undemanding and standard software, while the 2 GB AMD Radeon R7, a dedicated mid-range card, can run older or less extensive games like Diablo 3. Newer, hungrier games will run at lower fps, but they are still playable. However, its standard 5400 rpm hard drive which will damper performance quite a bit.
The Inspiron 15 weighs roughly around 2.38 kg, which is standard for a 15-incher. Thanks to the small screen and the frugal processor and graphics card, battery life is solid. The Dell is a good option for budget-conscious consumers looking for an all-round laptop.
AMD Radeon R7 M265: Mid-range graphics card based on the GCN architecture.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.

71%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
