Debian 13.4 Trixie-based antiX 26 comes with lots of updated packages, tweaks, and fixes

One of the fastest and lightest Linux distros currently available, Debian-based antiX has just reached version 26. This distro remains as flexible as before, with both 32-bit and 64-bit versions, no less than five init systems, several window managers, and a long list of included software in the Full edition. In this version, the default init is runit, and the others available are sysVinit, dinit, s6-rc and s6-66. The default window manager is IceWM, but those who want something else can go with Fluxbox, JWM, or the HerbstluftWM tiling window manager.
These are some of the other highlights of antiX 26:
- A custom 5.10.240 kernel for all versions, while the custom 6.6.119 only targets the x64 version.
- For playing YT videos without a web browser, gtk-pipe-viewer is included.
- Video players: Celluloid, MPV, and Xine.
- Audio player: Xmms.
- Firefox 140.8.0 ESR, LibreOffice 25.8.4, Claws Mail.
- Evince PDF reader.
- The 64-bit Full edition comes with PipeWire/WirePlumber by default.
- The file managers and desktop environments included are zzzFM, rox-filer, and mc.
In addition to the apps and services available to all Linux/Debian users, antiX also sports a set of in-house apps, namely ssh-conduit, 1-to-1-assistance-antix, and 1-to-1-voice-antix.
The downloadables can be retrieved from the project's SourceForge webpage. The 64-bit Full ISO has been downloaded almost 5,000 times already, and the 32-bit variant is nearing the 1,500 downloads milestone. The Core editions are far less popular, with less than 1,000 downloads combined.
