Debian-based Br OS 13.4 now available

Fully loaded with software and aiming to deliver a complete desktop experience for all users, Br OS has been around for a while. Its first version, Br OS 20.05, arrived as a reengineering of a previous distro and was based on Ubuntu 20.05. It moved on with the Canonical-provided foundation up to version 24.10 and then jumped into the Debian boat in mid-2025 with version 12.11.
Since Debian 13.4 Trixie has just arrived, Br OS 13.4 is now available as well. Obviously, it will include all the goodies that come with its foundation, as well as some updated packages, maybe some new apps as well.
For now, the official Br OS website is silent. However, the 13.4 ISO can be downloaded from SourceForge already. These are some of the changes that come with Debian 13.4 and should carry on to Br OS as well:
- Essential security fixes for core components such as Wget2, glibc, OpenSSH, Wireshark, and PostgreSQL.
- The latest 6.12.73 kernel.
- Non-essential fixes and tweaks for the GNOME Shell, Apache2, Samba, Xen, and OpenSSL.
- Kmail now shows all folders properly thanks to the fixes in the akonadi package.
- Many packages were rebuilt using the updated glibc. The list includes tripwire, tsocks, zsh, sash, integrit, and others.
The ISO file has 4.2 GB in size, which is slightly less than the 4.3 GB of the previous version. According to the official website mentioned above, this distro needs a dual-core 64-bit processor, 2 GB of memory, and a video card with at least 128 GB of video memory. However, the list of recommended specs mentions the Intel Core i3-3220 or AMD Athlon X4 845 processors, 4 GB of memory, and the Nvidia GT610 or Radeon HD5450 video cards.
