Rumours about the launch of the Mavic 4 Pro have been rumbling along for a while now. In part, these were inspired by the appearance of the drone at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which is often an indicator of a device's impending release. Although a few months have now passed since that FCC listing went live, there have been no firm indications of when DJI will present the Mavic 4 Pro in any capacity.
According to Jasper Ellens, the company has now settled on the last week of April for when it will begin teasing its next high-end consumer drone. Based on past DJI teasers, this will be shared on social media confirming the timing and name of its next launch event. A picture showing a portion of the drone may be offered up too; it is unlikely that DJI will mention the Mavic 4 Pro by name, though.
Unfortunately, Ellens has not revealed when the Mavic 4 Pro will be available. Nonetheless, DJI's launch events tend to occur about a week after it publishes initial teasers. Therefore, a release on May 1-2 or May 5-7 seems probable. Ellens adds that the Mavic 4 Pro will be heavier than the Mavic 3 Pro (curr. $1,941 on Amazon), which weighs 958 g or 963 g in Cine form. In other words, the Mavic 4 Pro could tip the scales at nearly 1 kg.
The Mavic 4 Pro is rumoured to offer 1x, 2.5x and 6x zoom levels natively too, along with up to 24x digital zoom. The drone's launch is also expected to coincide with one for the RC Pro 2 controller, which appears to have lost the built-in display from the RC Pro. Instead, it looks like the RC Pro 2 contains a floating display that may be attached to a folding hinge of some sort.
