Casio has unveiled the G-Shock DW-5600STT-1JR, a limited-edition collaboration watch inspired by the hit sci-fi series, which is set to wrap up its final season in November. The watch will launch in Japan this December for ¥19,800 (~$130), with global availability yet to be confirmed.
While the first Stranger Things collab watch was based on the retro A120WEST-1A and featured a multi-color theme, the latest model takes the classic square-faced DW-5600 and adds plenty of eerie details that fans of Stranger Things will appreciate. The new watch embraces the show’s central concept of the “Upside Down,” the shadowy alternate dimension existing in parallel with the real world.
The dial is laced with vine motifs that reference Vecna, the show’s most terrifying antagonist. The lettering on the face includes a clever inversion of the “A” in “LED BACKLIGHT” to symbolize the duality of the two worlds.
Pressing the backlight button reveals another easter egg: the display glows red and echoes the ominous hue often seen in the series’ Upside Down scenes. Finally, Casio has engraved the Stranger Things logo on the stainless steel case back, while the band ring is printed with “011,” a nod to Eleven, the show’s telekinetic protagonist.
The G-Shock DW-5600STT-1JR ships in a special themed box that features vine-covered artwork and imagery of the Demogorgon, one of the series’ most recognizable monsters.
Elsewhere, the DW-5600STT boasts shock resistance, 20-bar water resistance, a biomass plastic resin, and a five-year battery life. It's a pretty lightweight watch, measuring 48.9 × 42.8 × 13.4 mm and weighing just 52 grams. Like other Casio watches, it also offers practical time-keeping features like a 1/100-second stopwatch, 24-hour timer, multi-alarm with flash notification, and Super Illuminator LED backlight.
