The Casio MR-G series could be referred to as the pinnacle of G-Shock’s lineup, well-known for its focus on durability and precision. First launched in 1996, it usually features advanced materials like titanium for strength and lightweight construction. We previously shed light on the upcoming Casio MRG-B2100R-2AJR earlier this month. The watch shares a lot of design elements with the MRG-B5000BA-1JR, like its titanium build, and extends the Aizumi (藍墨, indigo dye) theme which was first introduced in 2022, adding subtle blue accents to its black DLC-coated case and bracelet. With the watch set to appear on Casio's official channels very soon, let's take a look at how similar (and different) it is to the MRG-B5000BA-1AJR.
The MRG-B2100R-2AJR introduces a more rugged approach compared to the MRG-B5000BA-1JR, swapping the latter's full titanium bracelet for a durable rubber strap. While the titanium core remains consistent, the addition of the Cobarion bezel ensures a premium finish, much like its predecessor. As mentioned earlier, the blue accents are getting carried forward, which reflects a whole new design continuity within the "Aizumi-themed" series - even though the B5000 series watch is not as blue as the B2100 series, which has a lot of indigo blue coloring in its dial. Technically, the watch is packed with features like Tough Solar power, Multi-Band 6 atomic timekeeping, Bluetooth connectivity, and water resistance up to 200 meters. It also includes a Super Illuminator LED backlight, world time for 39 cities, stopwatch, and multiple alarms - all of which cements its utility as both a functional and premium watch.
The MRG-B2100R-2AJR is set to join the MR-G lineup well-renowned for its craftsmanship. Previous models in the MR-G range indicate this watch will cater to the high-end segment. As per past leaks and Shockbase, the watch will have a high price tag of ¥550,000 (approximately $3,800).
More details are expected as the official release should be just around the corner. Multiple channels have previously indicated that January 2025 is the release timeframe for the timepiece, so we should see an official rollout any day now.
