Casio will shortly launch another G-Shock DW-5600 series watch named "Glayer" in Japan. The limited edition product is designed to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Japanese rock band Glay. Images of the wearable recently leaked at G-Direct, the Glay official store.
The model number of the Glayer remains unknown. However, images reveal that it has a pale beige casing and watch strap, with yellow-beige accents, including the text "Glay 30th" on the watch face. Plus, the product comes in a collectable tin box with a clock design on the lid. Marketing images show the lead singer of the band, Teru, wearing the watch.
While the features have yet to be officially announced, they likely include a countdown timer, multi-function alarms and a 1/100-second stopwatch. There is expected to be either an LED or electroluminescent (EL) backlight to help you read the display when it's dark. Depending on the backlight technology, the expected battery life will be either two or five years.
The Casio G-Shock Glay 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Glayer watch is expected to launch in Japan at 6PM JST on February 5th, retailing for ¥ 25,000 (~$161). The company has yet to announce plans to roll out this product in other markets. However other versions like the DW5600E-1V are available in countries like the US (curr. $44.97 at Amazon).
